Former President Goodluck Jonathan, during his world conference which held in Geneva, Switzerland, hinted that his administration actually bought weapons for the military to fightBoko Haram.

This is contrary to the various reports in the media, that no weapons were bought during his tenure.

The former President said “The current administration continues to fight them with the weapons we acquired and collectively I am confident we will eradicate them.”

He also said “My voice will certainly be heard at the appropriate time regarding the alleged arms funds mismanagement.”

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had earlier called on the former President to tell Nigerians all he knows about the $2.1b arms purchase scandal.

The world press conference was part of activities organised by the Circle of Diplomats (Circle Diplomatique), Geneva to honour Jonathan.

The Geneva Diplomatic Circle is an international association that aims to establish and promote privileged ties between diplomats and representatives of civil society.

Through its activities it strives to reinforce ties between different countries, promote cultural exchange, and facilitate encounters between diplomats and members of civil society.
